Doing vs Being

I have spent a lot of time on this trip in the doing, especially in this blog, documenting most of our experiences. But, the times I’ve had the most fun, the most enjoyment and the memories I will remember the most is not when I was doing, it was when I was just being. The conversations that I had with people who were traveling on a similar path in life, or those that were just really interesting, seem to stay with me the most. Times that I spent with Drew, or Noah or Ilise that weren’t about anything specific, they were just moments of being. This past week I had some moments like that and now I crave those moments even more, so how do we have more of those moments?
Is it possible to live a life of just being without the doing? Is that what meditation and clearing of the mind is all about? Is it about just being present, or is there more to it than that? At this point I’m not sure of the answer, but I am sure that I find much more joy in the being than in the doing. When I return from this trip, while building a community of like-minded and like-hearted people in San Diego will be the focus, what will help me even more is to do it from a state of being versus doing.
I look forward to the next part of this journey.
To a life well lived!
