Preparing to Travel

Posted on

Well, we are less than a week from the first part of our world tour. We leave for Israel on December 20th and spend close to two weeks touring and celebrating Noah’s Bar Mitzvah. Noah is working really hard on preparing for his service and I’m sure he will be great. When we return, we will have 3 weeks before the big trip starts, on January 25th!

So, we were worried about cold weather in Israel this time of year but the weather gods seem to be shining on us. It looks like the weather will be similar to San Diego with highs in the upper 60’s or low 70’s and in the 50’s at night. Everyone was so worried about it being so cold while we were traveling. We start our trip in Tel Aviv and travel north to Galelei and then off to Jerusalem for 4 days. From Jerusalem we travel to Masada for Noah’s Bar Mitzvah on December 30th and then get to swim in the Dead Sea. From Masada we head to Petra, which is supposed to be a once in a lifetime experience. After that we head back to Tel Aviv and then travel home.

Having never been to Israel I’m looking forward to experiencing it for the first time. I have spoken to so many people who say it’s an amazing, special place. I’m not sure what I will find, but this journey continues to show me my path and I’m certain that I will gain more insights on this trip. I will start to blog for the trip on December 20, the day we fly to Israel. It is a long flight, leaving LA at 6:45 PM and arriving in Israel at 11:20 PM the following day. We lose 10 hours traveling east, but it is still 18 hours of travel.

I will be traveling to and from Israel with just Drew and Noah since Ilise will be heading to NY the day before to travel with her mom. We will all meet up on Sunday evening, where my parents, my brother, my sister-in-law and niece, along with my mother-in-law will be waiting. We are also being joined by two of Ilise’ cousins for the full tour. For Noah’s Bar Mitzvah we will also have 3 other cousins in attendance from my family and my brother-in-law will be coming for the second week. It should be an amazing trip and I am excited to see it unfold!

Keep an eye out for more posts as well travel 🙂

To a life well lived…..
