Clarity & Focus

Posted on

I have been home for two weeks now and I can’t tell you how many times I have thought about and discussed the concept of clarity and focus. The trip to Uganda made it incredibly evident that these two items rule our life. If we are not clear about what we want then where do we focus our time and energy?

Imagine if all of us were clear about what we wanted, were able to clearly explain this to the important people around us and have the tools to explain it in a way that they could understand it. How wonderful would that be? Once we have clarity we can bring focus to our energy and our activities that can produce amazing results in all areas of our life.

This seems so simple and so obvious right now, but it is not so simple if you don’t see it yourself. In addition, it is extremely hard to execute well. There are so many things that get in the way of clarity, starting with our own inner voice. I know that I have been trying to quiet that inner voice for over 20 years and I attempt to live in the present as much as possible. Those of you who have known me over that period of time know how unconscious I was earlier in my life. I know that we always have so much to learn, but there are times when we reach some very powerful conclusions that allow us to move through huge barriers. I believe this is one of those times for me.

In addition to our inner voice we are influenced by everyone around us, along with their needs. We have spouses, children, parents, friends, co-workers and everyone else who want something from us. How do we gain clarity with all this noise inside and outside of ourselves? I am not a therapist but I know if we can gain this clarity we can move mountains!

At this moment I am clear of what I need to accomplish to make an impact on the world. How much of an impact I can make will be totally dependent on my clarity and focus. I know that the more I learn the better off I am. The more I ask questions and don’t assume that I have the answer the better. I also need to trust those times when I do know what to do and just do it. No more asking too many questions.

Each of us has natural gifts that make us special. I believe that our purpose in life is to explore ourselves to figure out what those special gifts are and use them to make the world a better place. I know that I was wired the way I am for a reason, and every day I continue to learn about myself and how I can apply those gifts to make the world a better place. This clarity is helping me in just about every aspect of my life and I look forward to taking this clarity and focus to a whole new level.

If you have any thoughts about clarity and focus I would love to hear from you. I would also appreciate thoughts around what holds us back from reaching clarity, or any other concepts you wish to share.

‘Til next time ……
